Card: Happy Birthday! Big Smile!

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you the birthday card that I made for my special friend who I mentioned in my previous post.

This sweet lady loves Turquoise. Erm.. it actually one of my favorite colors too! So, this card gonna be in Turquoise. I matched it with pink.

In this week's Just Add Ink Challenge, Tina is asking us to Just add.....C. What's my choice? My elements of C are Celebration, Confetti Collection, Cone party hat and Chipboard stickers.

I'm thrilled that the receiver loved both the cards I gave to her so much! I'm on moon now. Hope you all like them too!

Card: Merry Merry Merry Merry

A special friend of mine coming over to my place. I wanted to create a Christmas card for her as part of her birthday gift.

I came across Fusion Card Challenge and I was inspired by the inspiration photo - the colors, curtains, Christmas tree and ornaments.  

Then, I came across Just Add Ink Challenge #291 - Just Add C. My elements of "C" are Christmas Celebration, Christmas tree, Check patterned, die Cut and Curls. That's how I came out with this card!

Tea Bags Holder: Thank You Tea-cher! You're Tea-rrific

Teacher’s Day was just around the corner. Little Ze wanted to give his teachers some appreciation gifts. I told him that we would only be able to give out the gifts after our trip to KL. Oh no! Such a short time! I really scratched my head as I did not prepare for it at all. I had to think of something that we had on hand and something that we could complete in very short time before we depart to KL.

All of a sudden, I saw ‘TEA’ from the word ‘teacher’. Yes! I could prepare something related to tea! I had lots of tea bags on hand! I had some ready-made cookies as well! Hmm… "Let’s give all the teachers a wonderful tea break!!!" And I could add in a message "You're tea-rrific" to the project! 

Here’s what I came out with:

Litlle Ze helped to pack the tea bags.

Little Ze helped to die cut the tea bag holders.

Little Ze wrote all the names of his teachers by himself. And he got all their names right without my help!

He wrote his own name at the back of the holder.

So, what's inside the holder?

So, how I come out with this tea bags holder? 

I was thinking on how to wrap or present the tea bags and cookie. If store in a tumbler, there would be another cost and most importantly, it was impossible for me to search for identical tumblers in such a short time. On the other hand, I didn't want to just packed the tea bags and cookie in a plastic bag and tie with ribbon...Nah! Nah! Nah! 

What I had much in my room? Card stocks! Papers! There and then, I thought of a tea bags holder using the card stocks available. I recalled that I had Sizzix notebook holder die which I never use, which I grabbed from Smidapaper closing down sales. With the die, I could cut out some beautiful and identical holders in very short period of time. I added twine to hold the tea bags and cookie. This was how I converted the notebook holder into a tea bags holder. Then, I added washi tape to hold the holder instead of ribbon. 

The design was inspired by the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #123. I added a little twist on the sketch. 

  

The color combo was inspired by Always Playing with Paper Challenge #35 {Inspiration Challenge}

Then, I embossed partial of the holder with Birds and Swirls embossing folder when I came across CAS.ology WEEK 147: WEDDING. I could have a wedding elegance feel and wedding elements in a Thank You card, right? It was not necessary to be a wedding card. 

Lastly, the colors, theme, and sweet treats of PAPER SWEETIES INSPIRATION CHALLENGE #31 – ‘CELEBRATE MOM’ inspired me to add a little touch to the holder with pink and yellow butterflies. 

Little Ze was so happy and satisfied to see outcome of the gifts. He was so excited to distribute them to his teachers. All the teachers were happy to receive his special appreciation gift too! 

Mission accomplished!

Card: Love You

I created a shaker card with sequins and ovals in pastel colors.

This card was inspired by the sketch and inspiration titles from 3 challenges:

1)               The sketch was from the sketch badge of Sparkle & Shine Challenge TWO: Sketch sponsored by Winnie & Walter;

2)             The color combo was from Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge March 15 Jelly Bean;

3)             The oval loves was inspired by Jusk Add Ink #255 “Eggs or Ovals” and Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge March 15 Jelly Bean.

I die cut two stitched ovals to make a heart shape. Then, I added another small shaker heart shape onto the big heart. 

Some of the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh - Sparkling Clear. The oval stitched tag is also from Pretty Pink Posh. The stitched rectangles are from Simon Says Stamp.

Frame: Thinking of You

Again, CASE Study 4th Anniversary Week #3 was full of great inspirations and wonderful projects!! It was quite difficult to choose only one to CASE.

Here’s my take for this week:

I chose Julia Stainton’s card:

I made a framed piece instead of a card. I used buttons but I had mine with wood buttons as well. I added paper flowers, pearls, rhinestones and wood veneer sequins.

Little Ze’s 4th Pocoyo themed Birthday Party

Let’s continue on Little Ze’s 4^th birthday celebration.

Actually, we celebrated Little Ze’s FIRST birthday with Dino themed party but no special treats or celebration when he turned TWO and THREE. We just simply sang him birthday song and let him cut his cake. This year, we decided to have a little surprise for Little Ze. We got him a birthday trip to KL in the beginning of June and we had his classmates to sing a birthday song for him in the middle of June, which I blogged in previous post. Then, we prepared a mini Pocoyo themed birthday party for him end of June.

Why we choose Pocoyo themed for Little Ze? Oh! He loves Pocoyo since he was 2. Little Ze discovered this cartoon by himself through Youtube. 

Well, it was not easy to get Pocoyo party decorations or Pocoyo merchandise in local store. I asked my uncle Wee and my cousin Liang to buy me the Pocoyo party supply during the purchase of Baby Hang’s Whale of Fun birthday party supply.

Here’s the simple decoration of Little Ze’s Pocoyo themed party:

We had a Pocoyo banner. I die cut the alphabet ‘Z’ & ‘E’ from white cardstock and adhered them to trapezoid red and blue cardstock each to personalize the banner.

I cut the Pocoyo serviettes and hang them with a string to create party flags.  

We had the time line photo board as well. I reused the pennants and photo protectors that I handmade for Baby Hang’s whale themed party. The time line showcased pictures of Little Ze from birth till 4 years old and also photo of his previous birthdays.

We had a Pocoyo corner.

I made a ‘Welcome’ signage using alphabet foam sponges.  

This was a mini birthday party. There were only 10 of us. We had a long table setting to fit ten people. 

We had Pocoyo plate, bowl, fork and spoon specially for our birthday boy. The rest of us used porcelain plate, stainless steel fork & spoon and a Pocoyo dinner plate (for deco only).

Each of us played a different characters in Pocoyo cartoon series which assigned by Little Ze. I made the place card according to the characters. I converted the Pocoyo ‘Thank You’ card into place card. I die cut oval-shaped from various colored cardstocks, stamped the characters and adhered to the card. Of course, birthday boy’s place card would be different from us. His was adhered to a Pocoyo party hat.

This was the complete table setting with food and the birthday boy.

We had very simple food as it was just a hi-tea party, but there was a special dish. Mostly people would serve savory pie, sandwich and dessert for Hi-tea. But ours was a bit different. Haha… Want to give a try to guess what we had for our Little Ze’s Pocoyo party?

Let’s see what we have:

First, we had red eggs! It was a must for Chinese.   

Of course we had birthday cake from Chantilly Cakes. This dark chocolate cake was specially requested by Little Ze since the preparation of Baby Hang’s birthday party. Whenever Jess asked him about what cake he wanted for his birthday, ‘Chocolate cake’ would be his definite answer.   

Today’s special … Tada… We had Roast Turkey! It was not roast chicken but turkey! This was Little Ze’s first time seeing the real roast turkey. I knew it was not thanksgiving or Christmas but there was no rule saying we couldn’t have roast turkey on normal days.  Am I right? 

Then, we had two types of salad for side dishes. 

Jess specially made 3 pieces of dark chocolate coated with almond in cube for Little Ze. He ate one of it before the party started.

My beloved daddy carved the turkey to start the party!

Oh this is my favorite, turkey stuffing. Yummy!!!

Birthday boy peeled the red egg.

Let’s have a ride!

This car was not his 4^th birthday present but 2^nd birthday present. It looked new, right? Yes, this was because he refused to ride it until a day before this party. He so excited to play with it. Little Ze gave Baby Hang a ride.
