Card: Fantabulous (CSC210)

It has been a month I did not craft. I missed my crafty corner so much!

I was so sad that CASE Study is being suspended. Hopefully Case Study only closing temporarily and will be back soon.
This is the last chance to play along in Case Study for a while! No matter how, I must jump on the bandwagon.

Here's the inspiration from Debby Hughes who has been a fantastic Muse:

Here’s my take for Case Study Challenge #210:

You are Fabulous, Chupa. You inspired me much! It’s really a hard decision for you. I fully understand your situation. Well, All the Best to You! Waiting for you to come back soon! ”

A Kiss by Mosquito

September going to end soon! Hmm… I did not blog for nearly a month! What makes me so busy? Spring cleaning? Travelling? Nah...

Actually I was kissed by a mosquito, Aedes. Yes, I had dengue fever!

I did not know when and where I get the mosquito bite. But the symptoms started on 04/09/2014. I remembered that was a pleasant Thursday morning. I had great time with my bestie Min opening our happy mail from Mei Li Paperie and chit-chatting. Suddenly, I felt dizzy and hard to breath. Min noticed that too. Slowly, I got better but I felt something very wrong in my body but I could not tell exactly what was wrong. Later, Min sent me and Baby Hang to my office. After she went off, I straight away collapsed. My back and joints very pain. Then, I started feeling cold. I refused to seek for doctor because I afraid of being hospitalized.

The pain did not go away after I rested for two days. I was very tired. I kept sleeping and sleeping but actually I couldn’t sleep well. I suspected I had dengue fever. Furthermore, may be I skipped my meals, I had gastric that caused me nausea. I vomited once but no frequent vomiting. I just could not eat and drink. Only then I was willing to seek for doctor.

I was verified having Dengue Fever after a blood test. I was allowed to opt for home care as my level of blood platelets still okay. All I needed to do was to do blood test daily, had adequate rest and most important drink plenty of fluids. (Drinking plain water is inadequate.)

Now, the problem was I could not drink that much of fluids because of the nausea. I tried my very best to drink some watermelon juice, bitter gout and apple juice, isotonic juice and so forth but still not enough. I was dehydrated.

After 3 days of home care, my body temperature was back to normal, no more fever. No more back and joints pain. However, I was required to admit hospital in the middle of the night, right after 2nd blood test of the day because my level of blood platelets kept dropping and I was dehydrated. I was on drip.

With the drip and some medication to relief my gastric and stomach wind, I was able to eat and drink on the next day. I could finish a bowl of kuey teow soup! Can you imagine how happy I was? I kept drinking lots of liquids such as barley, warm water, Milo, juices including papaya leaves juice.

A rash described as "islands of white in a sea of red" occurs in the second night of the stay in hospital (7th days of symptoms). Oh my, the rash made me feel so uncomfortable. Even the clothes slightly in touch with the skin, the ‘pain’ would irritate you and make you incredibly uncomfortable. You would rather stay still. Later, the rash made me feel so itchy but I could not scratch them. Oh I should say I not manage to do that because the itchiness was from inside, not from the skin!

Okay. Let's see some nice things. Here's the view from the window of the room I stayed.

Well, I was discharged after staying for 3 days.

On 18/09/2013, doctor confirmed that I was fully recovered from Dengue Fever. I was so happy to hear that! Not because of my recovery (I believed that I will definitely survived and win this battle) but NO MORE HORRIBLE BLOOD TEST! Hahaha...

Because of the kiss of mosquito, I missed my precious time with my kids and family; I missed the chance to celebrate and play lantern with my kids during the Mid Autumn Festival; I missed the Penang Adventist Hospital breastfeeding event; We cancelled our trip to KL; We missed friend's birthday party etc. Oh, I missed my crafty corner so much!!!

Another thing that I must share is I still continue to breastfeed my Baby Hang although I had Dengue Fever. I never stop breastfeed him from the day I fall sick. I knew lots of people will stop breastfeeding when they have Dengue Fever but not for me. I was dehydrated but I still continue to feed. Doctors said it is alright to feed if I feel comfortable with. Tell you what, I engorged during my stay in hospital. Can you believe that? It’s true! I had to call my Hubby and bring Baby Hang to ‘rescue’ me. In the middle of the night, I had to stay up and hand express out some breast milk.  To me, it was another great experience and achievement.

Last but not least, I really want to thank my parents and Hubby so much for helping me taking good care of my 2 kids when I was sick. They have to work and at the same time they have to take care of my active and playful boys. Thank You! (Sob.. Sob… my mom fall sick after that because she was lack of rest.)

That’s all for the story about the kiss of the mosquito. This is the reason why I’m kinda disconnected for the past few weeks. No blogging, no facebooking, no instagraming, no emailing … Now I slowly replying messages and emails. I will definitely reply your messages, just that it will take some time as they will be sent by 'snail'…Hahaha!

Layout: Mr Punk

So excited to come across Pinkfresh Studio’s 1st ever challenge through their blog. They are co-hosting with their friends at Scrapbook Circle. Oh, I love the sketch created by Scrapbook Circle design team member Diana Fisher.

It is a great sketch! I can’t wait to create one using the sketch but I hardly spare some time for that. Hmm... I should give it a try before the challenge ends. But wait, it is going to end today!

Oh no, I have to travel and bring my kids to visit their grandparents! So, what I did was, I grabbed one whole stash of Jillibean Soup’s products on my desk and some tools, then straight jumped into the car. Frankly speaking, I did not know what’s actually inside the stash. They were my gift from my very special crafty friend – Cindy Lee. Thank you so much, Cindy! They are my precious now! Well, this was an unusual me. I never scrap without a plan in my mind and grabbed whatever I see on my desk to craft. I might miss out some embellishments. Don’t care so much. Just create using whatever I have. Wish me luck!

I wish I can own some Pinkfresh Studio products. They are very beautiful and nice, especially the limited edition kit! Wait for me to feed my piggy bank and I sure will have them in my craft collection ;-)

Here’s my take:

I used all Jillibean Soup’s products except for the paper clip, washi tape, wood veneer, chipboard alphabets and enamel dots. I layered a screen prints beneath the panel of the photo. Actually, I was quite worry about the color combination as I created this layout in a dim room. Luckily, the outcome was not too bad. I used multicolor, but blue and green were the main colors. The photo selected was taken years ago when Little Ze was below one year old. I love his sweet smile, his hair style and the saliva on his mouth. I made the title a little cooler - Mr. Punk, using silver foil chipboard letters to bring out the mood. I just wanted to avoid the layout become too sweet and get dull. There were quite a number of small little tiny wordings in the layout. It was quite fun to play with them.

Thanks for the fabulous sketch and get me inspired! I had fun creating this layout!

Happy Scrapping!

Layout: You Are My Sunshine, You Make Me Happy!

Hi! Today I’m going to share with you my layout for Mei Li Paperie’s August Inspired by... Challenge. I love this month’s inspiration piece.

Sad to hear that Robin Williams passed away. Robin Williams made art that changed my generation. His humor, his storytelling, and his thousand and one different expressions are what I watched growing up. Not just any celebrity can bring about epic feelings of childhood. Robin Williams is one of the few artists in our time that has that gift. Ok, back to the inspiration piece. It shown a fun photo of him that has a lot of feeling. How I get inspired?

First, the B&W photo and the wooden floor caught my eyes. I straight away thought of my Pink Paislee’s Hello Sunshine – Happy Days and Simple Stories’Vintage Bliss Gray Wood/Butterfly Stiches patterned papers. Secondly, the humor of Robin Williams.

To me, black is dark, sorrow and sad color. By the way, this was my first attempt to create a black base layout. Well, since Robin Williams brought us so much laughters, it was great to turn this black to a bright and happy layout. Laughter is the best medicine. I chose Pink Paislee’s Hello Sunshine – Happy Days as my base. Do you notice the wordings at the bottom of the paper? Does it sounds familiar to you? Yes, it was part of the lyrics in a song called “You Are My Sunshine”.

I came across Creative Embellishments’ August Challenge.

I was being inspired by the picture and for the twist to use ‘You Are My Sunshine, You Make Me Happy’ as my title. I chose a photo of my little Sunshine - Little Ze is smiling and saying ‘cheese!’.  He really brightens up my day. Then, I added a stripe of wordings from Hello Sunshine patterned paper … Let’s sing!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

I used the sketch from Elle’s studio Sketch Thursday 21/08/2014.

Oh, Robin Williams holding some little flowers and some on the floor in the first inspiration piece. I included some little colorful flowers in my layout as well. Can you spotted them?

I used two transparent tags in this layout.

I adhered mini alphabets to the transparent tags and layered it on top of a square piece which I stamped a camera onto it. You said Cheese!!!

That’s all for today!

Frame: Thinking of You

Again, CASE Study 4th Anniversary Week #3 was full of great inspirations and wonderful projects!! It was quite difficult to choose only one to CASE.

Here’s my take for this week:

I chose Julia Stainton’s card:

I made a framed piece instead of a card. I used buttons but I had mine with wood buttons as well. I added paper flowers, pearls, rhinestones and wood veneer sequins.

Hope you like it!

Layout: So Fun! You Make Me Smile!

I came across Elle's Studio Sketch Thursday dated 14.08.14. The sketch was perfect to record any and all summer memories.  It was so inspiring.

Tada...

My layout using the sketch! I created this layout within 20 - 30 minutes time while my Baby Hang taking an afternoon nap. This was my 10th layout. It was a fun and cheerful layout. These photos captured the fun moments of Baby Hang playing with his brother in the garden. I used red and yellow to bring out the mood. For the sunburst background, I used the combination of washi tape stamps and actual washi tapes to make horizontal lines. Can you differentiate between the stamped and the real washi tapes?

Those in the rectangle boxes are the stamped washi tapes ;)

I was having fun creating this layout, using the stuffs from one of my happy mails, my newly owned products from Elle's Studio!

The more excited news was my layout being randomly selected as the winner of that week for the sketch. Yippee!

Layout: So Thirsty?

Oh! Mei Li Paperie's August Colour Challenge is due today. Few more hours to go. Luckily, I managed to join in the party wagon.

Here's the August color palette:

Frankly speaking, this color palette is quite tough for me. I have no idea why. However, I still wanna challenge myself. I give myself even a harder task - to create a boy related themed in pink by following the color palette given. Normally, blue will be my choice when everything comes to boy and water. So, this time, I used pink, brow and gold.

Here's what I come up with:

This was my 9th layout. What do you think?

I wanted something funny and cute for this layout. Therefore, I chose this photo that showing Baby Hang eagerly and so insisted to drink the water from the tap. Oh my, he really made me laugh and angry at the same time.

I 'slot' in a transparent tag and a journaling card in the 'pocket' underneath the layering.

I used the sketch from Creative Scrappers sketch #275 by Jenny Evans.

That's all for today!
