Pocket Card: Thank You Sew Much

I attended a 3 days training about mother support on breastfeeding over the last weekend. It was conducted by a IBCLC from Ireland, Geraldine Cahill. Oh, I would say it was a fruitful, wonderful, informative and great training! It was an eye opener for me. Geraldine was so great! We were so fortunate to have her to provide us such a great training. I decided to make her an appreciation card before she fly back to Ireland.

I was thinking to develop a group photo taken during our training and attached it to my handmade card. Then, I came out an idea to make it a pocket card. I came across the Sketch Challenge of Waffle Flower Challenge for June/July 2014. The sketch inspired me a lot and I decided to play along.

Here’s what I come out with:

I made a pocket card with front flap folded down an angle. It looked almost similar to the sketch, am I right?

One of the basic rules to play along with Waffle Flower Challenge is to use at least one of Waffle Flower Crafts products on each entry. Notions Stamp Set (WFS101) is the one and only one product that I have from Waffle Flower Crafts.

And so coincident that the Notions Stamp Set contained sentiments ‘Thank you’ and ‘Sew Much’ which are so suitable for my appreciation card! Hmm… this card going to be a sewing related card. OMG, I don’t have a sewing machine! Sew by hand? I don’t think I have time for that. I adhered both sides of the card using craft glue and staplers were used to secure the pocket. Then, I ‘sew’ (the dotted lines) four sides of the card using black ink pen to create a border. I stamped a needle at the right of the card.

Waffle Flower Crafts stamp sets are great for creating our own pattern. As what it mentioned in the Waffle Flower’s Technique Challenge – Stamp a pattern. Random is a pattern.

I randomly stamped the buttons, love and threads using light color inks as the base at the panel. Then, I stamped the sentiment with black ink. Buttons and flowers were added to the panel. To add some dimension, I trimmed the panel a little bit and followed by ‘sewing’ the rest with a pen.

For the colors, again, I used the color combo from Mei Li Paperie's July Colour Challenge. Oh dear, I love this color combo so much!

I love to reuse and upcycle boxes, paper bags or wrapping papers. In this case, I reused a chocolate box from Japan and turned it into a new box for my card. Have a look at the matching box with my card. Oh look at the colors…

That’s for today! Oh, I heard from my friend said that Geraldine loves this card so much! I was happy and thrilled to hear that!

I'm entering this card for

Happy crafting!
